About this site
Everything by Phil Hearse that the Red Mole archives hold, in one place. Each piece is taken from an archive site as that site is built, and links back to it.

Where a piece appeared in more than one place (an article in Socialist Outlook reprinted in International Viewpoint, say) it appears once, and every copy is linked from its page. An article the archive split across two pages ("continued") is joined. Translations into French, Spanish, German and Swedish are listed separately and linked, not copied.
The texts
Each page says which kind of text it carries. The best text held is shown: a hand transcription or a publication's own web text ahead of OCR.
- Transcribed or corrected by hand from the printed page (155).
- The publication's own web text (110).
- Talk transcripts (4), corrected against the recording.
- OCR text (322): scanned print, read by machine and not yet proofread. It is here so the words can be found and read; for quotation, go to the printed page, which the archive copy links to.
By-lines
Each piece carries the by-line it was printed under. Phil Hearse also wrote as Paul Clarke (chiefly in the Socialist Outlook newspaper and International Marxist Review; 77 pieces here) and as Paul Lawson (in Socialist Challenge, Socialist Action, International Viewpoint, Labour Briefing and elsewhere in the 1980s; 97 here) and as Paul Stevens (2 here). In the internal bulletins of the IMG and the Socialist League he signed himself Andre (3 here). French Inprecor twice printed his name as Phil Clarke. The pen names are his; each was identified by the editor of the Red Mole archives, and a piece is included under another name only where it has been checked. The Brian Hearse of Socialist Challenge is a different writer.
marxsite
Phil Hearse ran marxsite as a long-form companion to Socialist Resistance. With his agreement it was recovered from the Wayback Machine in October 2026 and is published as a section of the Socialist Resistance archive. marxsite reprinted a great deal by other writers; only his own pieces are here. Where the archive withholds a text and gives a summary instead, this site does not reproduce it either.
